I am an American who has lived in Berlin for almost nineteen years with my German wife, we live in Hohenshönhousen. We have watched through the years all of the zoological progams, naturally we were so excited when knut was born. We are very unhappy at the passing of Mr. Dörflein, he was always filled with love and understanding for Knut, we will miss him. Now I hope you will understand it is probably a stupid idea on my part, but I feel the way to save the polar bears of the artic and canada, is to go all out and search for as many as possible to find, use anesthetic shots from rifles like the ones used at the zoos, round them up and bring them to the worlds zoological gardens, this way they just might have a chane to survive, as they are going under what with the drastic change in climate. Yes, it must be difficult to make an all out search for polar bears, but I fear it is time to do it, and now is the time as were it to get worse, the polar bears will have no chance. How wonderful it copuld be that the public could enjoy polar bears in zoos internationally. I am sure it will be expensive, but with the amount being spent to search the universe, why not SAVE the POLAR BEARS and I mean NOW!!! Please send internatioally an all out sos to all zoos of the world, to see when this could come about. I feel it is time to act, I have seen the faces of the artic polar bears, one CAN see it in the faces that they are bewildered and know not where to go. PLEASE HELP THEM, for if the worlds zoos have no interest, then they must look for another type of work.
